60% jump in Covid cases in Delhi with 56 deaths

2,380 fresh cases of Covid 19 infection have been reported as of Thursday, 15% higher than yesterday. According to Union Health Ministry’s website, 56 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, rising to 522,062. 

The country has reported an active caseload of 13,433 infections with 1,093 cases recorded in the last 24 hours. In terms of recovery, the recovery rate is stagnant at 98.76% with an increase in the daily positivity rate currently at 0.53%. On Wednesday, the national capital saw a 60% surge in the daily number of infections with the city’s caseload marked at 18,70,692 cases.

On the vaccination front, 187.07 crore doses have been administered so far accounting for 2,53,87,677 and 2,37,279 jabs to kids between the age of 12-14 years as a first dose and as a precautionary dose to adults between the age of 18-59 respectively. The testing of 83.33 crore samples has been completed as of now, out of which 449,114 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
